1) A senior Scientist from ISRO, S. Ramakrishnan took over as the Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.
2) Along with Vidya Balan, Neha Dhupia has been named PETA’s hottest celebrity vegetarians of 2012.
3) The human rights chief of UN- Navi Pillay termed Rape as National Problem in India.  He asked the union government of India to strengthen the legal administration against sexual crimes, primarily rapes but he was against death penalty for the rapists.
4) Justice D K Jain has been announced the chairman of 20th Law Commission of India.
 5) Jammu & Kashmir state government has decided to dedicate the year 2013 to daughters and observe it as ‘Save the Girl Child Year’.
6) MobiCash Easy, a mobile wallet which offers facilities such as fund transfer, bill payment, balance inquiry, mini statement, mobile top-ups and DTH recharge, has been launched by State Bank of India.
7) Sanjiv Bhatt has been conferred the 5th Mother Teresa Memorial International Award 2012 for Social Justice.

10) Urjit Patel was appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) . He succeeded Subir Gokarn whose term ended on 31 Dec 2012.

15) Malala Yousafzai, the schoolgirl from Pakistan shot by Taliban received France’s Simone de Beauvoir Prize for Women’s Freedom in Paris.
16) Chandrakanta Rawat, the 37-year-old Uttrakhand woman became the first complete body donor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
17) Virat Kohli won ‘CEAT international cricketer of the year2011-12 award.
18) Indian-origin Halimah Yacob became the first woman and the 9th Speaker of the Singapore Parliament. 
19) The first space weather-reading centre of India is scheduled to be opened by Mid-2013 in Kolkata.

29) Rajnath Singh was appointed as the National President of BJP and he replaced outgoing President Nitin Gadkari to be at the post.
